Galileo at Work: His Scientific Biography (Dover Phoenix Editions)
Another really good book on Galileo’s life is the fairly recent “Galileo’s Daughter” by Dava Sobel
Concentrates on the reltionship and letters he wrote to his daughter in the convent, but goes in to detail about his life as well, from a fairly personal angle. Well written and easy to follow.
